Since our Flesh x Fresh Diet is heavily dependent on imported foods, we appreciate a lot when yen appreciates a lot against dollar!
We are now living in the period of globally enlarged family. No country can exist alone today. Japan isolated itself from foreign countries in Edo era which lasted two centureis. It meant this damp country survived by itself in those days. It might be possible to go back to those self-sufficient days but our standard of living should go back to that of those days too. We can’t sustain the Flesh x Fresh Diet. We have to eat rice as our staple or even worse grains because white rice was thought to be high class foods in those days. The population should decrease to 30 million instead of today’s 120 million.
Whichever level we are talking about, country, local town or individual family, to be independent, or to be able to govern ourselves in a true sense, we have to live by ourselves, which means we have to produce our foods by ourselves. Without it, nationalism, homeland love, tribalism, blood or family ties are merely a play on words.
But do we really have to be nationalistic in this global family age? I don’t think so. We are citizens of global society. That is good enough.

In 2009, I made up my mind to eliminate any and all of GMO(genetically-modified organisms) from my life, leading to whole grains vegan diet, and further into low-fat-raw-vegan (the 80/10/10) diet.
