“Refined” must have meant in a good way originally. It still has favorable impression for those who are unconcerned with their own health but it has already become a notorious word for people who care about their health: refined sugar, refined oil, refined flour etc.
Now I am thinking about exercise. To do some sports or muscle training, that is, to make movements in an artificial environment can be called “refined movements.” What I want to say is that, for example, there are baseball shoulder, tennis elbow syndrome and so forth and I guess those diseases are results of “refined movements,” doing specialized, very limited variety of movement repeatedly.
In contrast, if our exercises are mostly for gathering and hunting in fields and mountains, there are unpredictably various kind of muscle movements we have to make. That’s why I prefer burning calories by working with trees and soils. In addition to that, I’m a person who soon gets bored with repeating the same thing everyday. No artificial exercise programs whatsoever is my suit.
Today, I did weeding and felling small trees on a sloping ground for five hours to make caloric deficit of 869 kcal. But weekly cumulative balance is still in black.
