My salt intake was 18.8g today while WHO recommends that adults consume less than 5 g (just under a teaspoon) of salt per day. It is often said that Japanese are having too much salt. The government of Japan recommends to reduce it to less than 8g. But the latest data shows current Japanese average salt intake is only about 10g, which is almost half of my salt intake. I am taking more than double or three times of those recommendations and still feel quite all right. The secret is to keep ORS ratio, to drink a lot of water. Though I am taking salt that much, I don’t add any salt when I eat meats by the way. Grass-fed meats taste good by itself and adding salt would ruin the savor.
